Update: A Family’s Chance to Begin Again

5 April 2019

I have amazing news to share. A couple months ago, I posted about my dear friends, the Hasans, a family of six siblings from Syria, and their sponsorship to move to Canada to rebuild their lives.

Recently, they had their interviews with the Canadian Embassy, and they are going to Canada!!!! Depending on how long the process takes, they could be there, starting their new lives, in as little as 5 weeks.

I asked Hasan how he felt when he heard this news. His response?

“I feel like flying.”

And truly, my heart soars with happiness to hear this. As I said before, no one deserves this more than them.

In just 3 months, $86,000 were raised! The charity doing the sponsorship had a goal of $90,000 and are currently raising the last bit. To all of you that responded to my call for action, thank you. I cannot thank you enough.

Enjoy this gorgeous image that I received from the charity that beautifully captures their spirits. Unfortunately I don’t know who to credit for this image, but it is courtesy of the Toronto Multi-Faith Refugee Effort Team.

In solidarity,

Mo
