As you all know from reading my COVID-19 time updates (this one and this one), my personal situation has changed drastically and I, along with many others, have found myself unemployed.
Some people, upon hearing this news, ask me when I’m coming home, i.e. returning to America. To which my response is, that I’d rather be unemployed here in Japan than back in the U.S.
Luckily, my former company had enrolled me in the unemployment insurance scheme, which I am now fully taking advantage of. In Japan, this is all run by an organization called Hello Work, so, armed with a pile of paperwork, to Hello Work I went. And, as you can imagine, it was an experience.

Happy Travels, but stay the fuck at home,

Congrats on the unemployment insurance Mo! Another unique experience that provided info for a very interesting and informative post. Be well and stay safe – XOXOXO
I do applaud your willingness to wade through the bureaucracy of a foreign country. It’s bad enough doing it at home. But you got what you needed! Good luck with the job search.
